Alloway New Jersey Nicole ~ Finding Peace within

“True and lasting inner peace can never be found in external things. It can only be found within. And then, once we find and nurture it with ourselves, it radiates outward.” ~Buddha

Nicole is lovely.  Her alluring beauty attracts your attention and as she opens her heart to you, it's evident that she is deep and soulful like poetry.  She is graceful, strong, and playful and her yoga practice is the perfect display of all of her inspiring attributes.

Nature is where Nicole finds peace as it tunes her into her inner child, and this gorgeous spring evening provided the perfect backdrop for our little adventure.  The cherry blossom petals carpeted the ground, the sun was shining, and the lush green of the forest captivated us.  We surrendered to the Earth's enchanted energy as we flowed and frolicked and what we were able to capture was nothing short of magic.

This experience was one of merriment as Nicole just became a registered yoga teacher.  Through her 200 hour journey she was able to find peace and a profound sense of self acceptance that radiates from within.  It was truly an honor to be a part of her journey and I will always cherish this heart felt celebration.

Pennsville New Jersey Rebekah~Yoga on the Delaware River

"Some days I feel like I'm still a stranger in my body, 6 months postpartum and my back hurts most days, I feel a disconnect in my lower belly from the c-section and I'm exhausted.  And then there are these pockets of amazement. This body created life, and sustains life.  Even on days when I feel slightly broken I can create shapes and find the shadows of my old self, but now only better, stronger, and more aware." ~Rebekah

Rebekah yearns for strength and softness, she is disciplined with her yoga practice and the mother of a 6 month old baby boy.  That is not an easy feat, to make time for self care and embrace the journey into motherhood is a balancing act that is difficult to achieve.  Rebekah accepts this challenge with grace and courage and I admire her ability to be present in the moment with her son as well as herself.  I wanted to document a glimpse into her journey as a strong and soft woman displaying self care for her body, mind, and spirit.

We chose the Delaware River as our setting as Rebekah is an open water swimmer and this has always been close to home.  She is a mermaid at heart and experiences freedom in the water so that is a big part of who she is.  The clouds covered the sun representing her stormy past and creating a mood that suited her story.

Through photographing Rebekah and gaining more insight into her world I've gained so much admiration and respect for her.  She has transformed hardships into triumphs and she exudes joy and gratitude.  I am incredibly grateful to have shared this experience with her and I look forward to continuing our new found friendship.
